In collaboration with performance artist Bryony Harris, Plastica Galactica is a show exposing plastic pollution and how important the role of the individual is to fight plastic pollution. We've used theatre as a form of activism to fight plastic pollution whilst being able to inspire others to get on board.

“Don’t go near the water” The Beach Boys once said, but Plastica Galactica looks at exactly that; the water. What’s choking our marine life, what’s clogging up the ocean and what’s outliving all of us; plastic.

With everything on stage being plastic Emma and Bryony have collected on beach cleans, they’re here to show you why life in plastic…isn’t fantastic. Plastica Galactica explores plastic pollution, the effects on marine wildlife and the importance of YOU! Expect copious amounts of trash, DIY theatre and two eco girls in a plastic world.

Help us stop the plastic tide before we sleepwalk into the worst possible situation.

“If I like a photograph, if it disturbs me, I linger over it. What am I doing, during the whole time I remain with it? I look at it, I scrutinize it, as if I wanted to know more about the thing or the person it represents.” (Barthes: 2010: 99)

Censorgraphs is a photography exhibition that readdresses the purpose of the photograph. Why was it taken? How has the purpose of the photograph shifted due to humanity’s uncomfortableness with the photograph? Censorgraphs evolved as a result of Emma’s interest with human behaviour and our trait to constantly deflect from the truth and purpose of an issue. Why is it when Nilüfer Demir took the picture of 5 year old Alan Kurdi lying dead on a beach in Turkey the issue became ‘Why did he take a photo instead of helping?’ despite the issue being The Refugee Crisis and his purpose being to broadcast the reality of these people’s lives to increase help on the issue.

Civilisation explores the world we live in, the people we pass everyday, the ‘type’ of people we pass, the stories we hear on the news, us as human beings; a text based solo delivering three different stories about ‘us and them’ through the lens of racism being a chemical reaction that happens in the body, pigmentation defining your worth and intelligence as a human and blood being the purest thing you can have…if you have the right type of blood that is…

Reviews include:

“Gannon is engaging as a performer, and the text is inventive, presenting compelling and unexpected situations before problematisting them. the concept itself is innovative, original and feels prescient in the current climate, at a time of increasing tension around race relations and the politicisation of the outside” (Linford Butler)

"A fascinating monologue exploring physical and emotional bodily reactions to those who appear different from us" (Sam Ross, part of SamDoesTheatre company)

| SET SAIL |

(2016)

TOUR DATES:

17/12/16- Chichester/Bognor Regis

Refugees have fled their homes and made journeys through Europe we can only imagine. They are escaping war, poverty, destruction, chaos and the worry that their loved ones might be shot, kidnapped, injured or murdered at any point in the day. In 2015 on average 727,085 migrants went on a torturous journey seeking aslymn in Europe and more than 3,000 drowned along the way. These 727,085 people travelled an average of 2,750 miles each, collectively amounting to 2,000,000,000 miles, equating to 8,000 trips around the moon or going around the world 80,000 times. . Take part in the Set Sail experience to undertake a refugees two billion mile journey across Europe.

Reviews include:

"The sheer scale and detail achieved in this project is impressive. The geocache-style packages hidden at different locations are a simple mix of function and aesthetic – with detailed and authentic additions to the story to help build the picture of the imagined journey. The rules of the engagement as well as some useful context and helpful hints are housed on a well designed, sleek website that is easy to navigate.  The project intersects with our everyday reality and complicates our own geography by conflating our ‘journeys’ – which feel arduous at times – with those of refugees. This is an intelligent, well-considered and deliberate project that uses appropriate mechanism of performance documentation to present a sensory experience that conflates the everyday with the political." (Dr Pete Phillips, Search Party)
